A new colour scheme applied to this kitchen and utility in Berkhamsted

This particular project was quite an unusual one! The kitchen was in great condition and colour wise looked fine. The client however just wanted it in a different colour. Normally jobs like this, the cabinets need a considerable amount of prep to get it anywhere near this project. Kitchen cabinet painter Berkhamsted Hertfordshire

There were a couple of areas that needed attention. The doors below the sink had retained some water damage which was repaired and some of the plinths/kick boards had blown, these were also sanded back and filled.

As you can see from the photo below, the kitchen looks fine. If you drage the centre arrow, you can see the before and after.

A visit to the client was arranged where we discussed colours and ideas for the new look. I also talked through the process of collecting the doors. This is what I do on many projects as it minimises disruption and allows the kitchen to be used during the painting process. It was agreed by the client that a 2 colour scheme would be the way forward.

We spoke about products and the durability of the Tikkurila paint that I use. It is without doubt the most important thing to discuss prior to painting.

I spoke at length about the durability of the product and how I was first introduced to it many years ago at Mark Wilkinson Furniture.

Once the colours had been agreed, the paints were ordered for a next day delivery to my workshop. Kitchen cabinet painter Berkhamsted Hertfordshire

My workshop is well insulated and heated, so perfect in most weathers for painting kitchens and furniture. I predominately finish  everything I paint using Corona brushes. I find these are a well balanced brush giving a holding a decent amount of material without flooding the surface. The tips are fine  which give an almost flawless finish.

Once all the painting has been completed, the doors are wrapped and taken to site for re fitting. Efforts are always made to adjust and doors and drawers to make them line up evenly. In some case doors can be adjusted to stop any catching or rubbing.

The two colours looked great! really complemented the look of the property and the existing colour scheme in the house.

The client was thrilled with the new look. She loved the look of the new scheme and commented on the finish of the paint. A 30% sheen level was used and gave a beautiful satin finish. Kitchen cabinet painter Berkhamsted Hertfordshire

The utility was completed using the same scheme. The picture above is looking greyer than the main kitchen. This is down to different light conditions.

On the whole a very pleasing project to do. A lovely client to work with and to be trusted with keys to lock up after each working day on site.

What I need!

  1.  To be able to see each individual run of cabinets so I can count up the doors and drawers.

            2. A perspective shot so I can see the whole kitchen if possible.
